Bergamote & Cardamome, an invitation to travel
A Bilingual Children Book for 7+
$12.00
An invitation to travel—because learning a language is already a journey.
Bergamote & Cardamome tells the story of two dolls forgotten behind when their owner leaves on vacation. Deciding to set off on their own, they begin a series of adventures, starting with a trip to Paris, and send postcards to Emeline at each stage of their journey.
The main narrative is written in the child’s home language, while the postcards appear in the target language, allowing the two languages to alternate naturally within the same story. This intentional narrative structure supports language awareness by helping young readers notice differences, make connections, and infer meaning from context.
Aligned with ACTFL and CEFR language-awareness goals, the series encourages early plurilingual competence through meaningful exposure, cultural discovery, and age-appropriate reflection on how languages work. By embedding the target language in a familiar and motivating storytelling format, Bergamote & Cardamome fosters confidence, curiosity, and positive attitudes toward language learning.
